DESCRIPTION

Bacteriostatic Water is a sterile, non-pyrogenic aqueous solution containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol (9 mg/mL), which functions as a bacteriostatic preservative. The presence of benzyl alcohol inhibits the proliferation of microbial contaminants, allowing the solution to maintain sterility under controlled handling conditions.

Preservation and laboratory handling characteristics

When formulated as sterile water combined with benzyl alcohol, bacteriostatic water is commonly used in laboratory and research environments where multiple withdrawals from a single vial are required over a defined period.
